Quotex

We have been really busy the last couple of months building new and exciting services for the public relations professions of NZ. Quotex (see link above) is a new tool we have developed to take advantage of online text media.

What people say is important and you need to know how well you were quoted in the media. Quotex analyses the document and highlights the quoted text. This allows you to quickly identify what was quoted in the document. Combined with our keyword highlighting allows you to rapidly digest media content.

Social Media

The other thing we have been working on is twitter analytical tools. We are developing tools to analyse the twitter social media landscape. We have some early results which I have posted in my thrills and spills blog. We have had a lot of fun playing around in this area. It is a bit of luck that the work I have been conducting research on neutral networks at Massey university for the last five or so years so I have a bit of in site into how to work in this area. I will announce my work on twitter as I make progress and release new products.

Print and broadcast media monitoring costs and delays

Monitoring print requires expensive scanners to scan the newspapers. A labour intensive process is required to cut each scanned page into articles that under go optical character recognition to extract an approximation of the article text. These steps are time consuming and expensive.

Broad cast media monitoring is easier to set up but requires a lot of man power to log each broadcaster and to prepare transcripts.

There are many advantages to online media clipping, here a just a few:

1. 1. Charge per clip, not per page, the clip costs the same no matter how many pages. This means you pay less than half the price of a press clipping.

3. 3. No scanning and cutting processes required so you don't have to pay or wait for this!
   

4. 4. No delay we can send it to you as soon as we have read it.
   

5. 5. Clips can contain any media format including AV content
   

As more existing and emerging news publishers are appearing on the internet, the cost of developing internet sites decreases and the benefits of a wide readership become apparent.
